Fenton and Pastore Named All-SUNYAC

NEW PALTZ, NY — Seniors Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) and Lauren Pastore (Levittown, NY) were named to the women’s soccer all-conference team in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) this afternoon.

Fenton, the Hawks’ goalkeeper, was a second team selection after earning honorable mention recognition in 2003. She started all 20 games and played all 1860 minutes in net for the Hawks. Fenton had seven shutouts, a 1.55 goals-against average, an .816 save percentage and at one point this fall had not surrendered a goal in 394 minutes. She was named the SUNYAC Co-Player of the Week and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Goaltender of the Week on October 4 after registering back-to-back shutouts against conference rivals Brockport and Geneseo.

Pastore, a defender, was named to the all-league team for the first time in her career and was an honorable mention selection. She had seven points on three goals and an assist. In addition, she helped the Hawks limit their opponents to 1.5 goals per game and played a part in the team’s seven shutout victories.

The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team had an overall record of 7-10-3 and a 4-4-2 mark in the SUNYAC. The Hawks were seeded sixth in the league’s post-season tournament and lost 2-1 to third-seeded Cortland in the opening round on November 2.
