NJCU Rallies To Defeat Hawks, 3-2

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Freshman middle blocker Lizzelle Cintron had 40 kills and New Jersey City University completed a 2-0 comeback by winning the fifth game 16-14 to earn a 3-2 win over SUNY New Paltz this evening.

The Hawks (14-6) started strong with a 30-22 win in the opening game and a 30-21 victory in game two. SUNY New Paltz hit .303 in the opening game and .265 in the second in building a 2-0 edge.

The Hawks were led by sophomore outside hitter Kim Clouston (Baldwinsville, NY) who finished 13 kills.

NJCU (11-5) built a 16-11 lead in the third game and pulled away for a 30-19 win.

In the fourth game, SUNY New Paltz trimmed a 28-19 to 28-23 but ultimately fell 30-23 and setting the stage for the fifth game.

Junior outside hitter Andrea Kaiser (Blue Point, NY) added 11 kills for the Hawks. Freshman setter Kate Becofsky (Altamont, NY) had 29 assists.
