Hawks Take Opener at Oneonta Invitational
ONEONTA, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team outlasted Kings College (PA) 15-11 in the fifth and deciding game to win its opening match at the Oneonta Invitational.
After dropping the first game 30-21, the Hawks went onto to post a 30-15 win in game two and a 30-27 victory in the third. Kings forced a fifth game with a 31-29 win in the fourth game.
Junior outside hitter Andrea Kaiser (Blue Point, NY) had 16 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore right side Franchesca Rodriguez (Schenectady, NY) had 13 kills and committed just two errors to finish the match with a .324 hitting percentage.
SUNY New Paltz, 12-4 and ranked sixth in the state, will face conference rival Geneseo later today.
