SUNY New Paltz Men’s Soccer Team Suffers 2-1 Loss in 2OT
MADISON, NJ — Sophomore Tim Dudek (Medford, NJ) headed the game-winning goal in double overtime off a corner kick by sophomore Michael Ferber (New City, NY) to hand SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team their second straight loss.
SUNY New Paltz (0-2) fell behind early when freshman midfielder Kelja Mueller (Frankfurt, Hessen) put the first goal of the night past Hawk’s sophomore goalie Jake Lammers (Highland, NY) at 5:08. SUNY New Paltz managed to tie up the match on a second half breakaway by sophomore forward Greg Foss (Islip, NY) at 72:31.
The game remained tied as regulation time ran out and the teams were forced to battle it out in overtime. After the first extra frame the score remained unchanged forcing a second overtime period. At 104:24 The College of New Jersey (2-0) converted a corner kick to put an end to the marathon match
