NEW PALTZ — The State University of New York at New Paltz will hold a dedication ceremony for Rimer Cardillo’s outdoor wall mural, titled “Environment and Culture: From the Amazon to the Hudson River,” at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Humanities Building Main Concourse on the SUNY New Paltz Campus.
The event will include welcoming remarks by Johanna D’Aleo, vice president for administration, and comments by: professor Peter Brown of the Department of Foreign Languages; Kurt Daw, dean of the School of Fine and Performing Arts; Patricia C. Phillips, chair of the Art Department; professor Myra Mimlitsch Gray of the Art Department; Karl Emil Willers, curator of the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art; and closing remarks by Neil Trager, director of the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art.
The dedication ceremony will be followed by an opening reception in the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art for the exhibition, “Rimer Cardillo: Impressions (and other images of memory),” which is free and open to the public.
Cardillo is an internationally recognized artist of Uruguayan decent and professor of printmaking at SUNY New Paltz.
