Proper Named SUNYAC Player of the Week
NEW PALTZ, NY — SUNY New Paltz sophomore midfielder Kelly Proper (Red Hook, NY — Red Hook HS) was named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Field Hockey Player of the Week this afternoon.
Proper registered the first ever hat trick in the five-year history of the program last Wednesday (Sept. 8). She netted all three of her goals in the second half of a 5-3 loss to Drew at Dietz Stadium.
Prior to Proper’s hat trick, five different players on eight occasions had scored two goals in a game for the Hawks.
Proper has scored three goals this season and is tied with junior midfielder Kate Schoonmaker (High Falls, NY) for the team-lead in scoring with six points.
The SUNY New Paltz field hockey team (0-4) will face Vassar College on Wednesday (Sept. 15) at 4:00 p.m. at Vassar.
