Hawks Stay Undefeated Following 9-0 Win at Brockport

BROCKPORT, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s tennis team remained undefeated following a 9-0 sweep of conference rival SUNY Brockport this afternoon.

The Hawks began the day with an easy time in each of the three doubles matches. The number one team of freshman Eri Yamakawa (Eastchester, NY) and senior Kerry Farrell (Rockville Center, NY) registered an 8-1 win over Ashley Balling and Kayla Mizgala. At number two doubles, freshman Alex Goldberg (Scarsdale, NY) and sophomore Jen Larson (Port Jervis,NY) blanked Alison Vegh and Jamie McDonald, 8-0.

Yamakawa improved to 3-1 at number one singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Balling. Goldberg improved to 4-0 at number three singles following a 6-0, 6-0 win over Emily Longnecker. Larson raised her record to 4-0 at number five singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over McDonald. Senior Amanda Rosario (Bronx, NY) also improved to 4-0 after a 6-3, 6-0 win over Chang Wang-Hong.

Doubles #1 Yamakawa/Farrell (NP) defeated Balling/Mizgala (B) 8-1. #2 Goldberg/Larson (NP) defeated Vegh/McDonald (B) 8-0. #3 Goldstein/Laura Thomas (NP) defeated Angie Bermudez/Stephanie Cali (B) 8-2.
