Hawks Place Three on All-Tourney Team

NEW PALTZ, NY — Three members of the SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team were named to the all-tournament at SUNY Cortland Red Dragon Classic last weekend.

Junior middle hitter Christina Mazurowski (Tonawanda, NY), junior outside hitter Andrea Kaiser (Blue Point, NY) and sophomore outside hitter Kim Clouston (Baldwinvsville, NY) were each honored after leading the Hawks to a 3-1 record and a second place finish at the two-day, 10-team event.

Mazurowski had a .382 hitting percentage and averaged 2.7 kills and 1.1 blocks per game. Her finest effort of the tournament was a 12-kill, seven-block effort in a 3-0 sweep of State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) rival Fredonia.

Kaiser averaged 2.5 kills, 1.6 digs and 0.6 blocks over 11 games in the tournament. She had eight kills, five digs and four assisted blocks in the victory over Fredonia.

Clouston, a newcomer to the program who transferred from Queen’s University in Ontario, provided 2.4 kills and 0.9 digs per game. Clouston recorded nine kills, played errorless volleyball, and had a .600 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win over Nazareth.

SUNY Cortland won the tournament with a 4-0 mark. The Red Dragons handed the Hawks their only loss of the weekend with a 30-22, 30-26, 30-13 triumph.

The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team (3-2) will return to action on Sept. 17 when they host the SUNY New Paltz Invitational. The two-day event in Elting Gym will feature Mount St. Mary, Elmira, SUNY Farmingdale and Oneonta.
