Hawks Fall 2-1 in OT to Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Kaitlin Harvie’s overtime goal gave Vassar a 2-1 victory over SUNY New Paltz this afternoon.

The Hawks took a 1-0 lead ten minutes into the game when junior midfielder Kate Schoonmaker (High Falls, NY) scored her third goal of the season.

SUNY New Paltz (0-5) maintained its lead until midway through the second half when Vassar midfielder Kristin Hogan tied the score with an unassisted goal.

The two teams played scorless field hockey for the final 23 minutes of regulation. Harvie’s game-winner came 2:43 into the extra session to give the Brewers their first win victory in three tries this season.

SUNY New Paltz will play its conference opener at Brockport on Saturday (Sept. 18) at 12:00 p.m.
