Musu Jackson-Buckner Named Women’s Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field MVP
NEW PALTZ, NY — Buffalo resident Musu Jackson-Buckner was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the SUNY New Paltz women’s indoor and outdoor track and field teams at the school’s annual Athletic Awards Banquet on May 7th.
Jackson-Buckner, a sophomore sprinter, captured the 2004 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the 200 meters in a time of 26.03. It was the second straight year that she won the conference title after claiming the crown in 2003 in a time of 26.01. Jackson-Buckner also finished second in the 400 meters with a time of 59.00.
At the 2004 SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championship, Jackson-Buckner sprinted to a second place finish in the 200 meters (26.00) and placed third in the 400 meters (59.62).
Jackson-Buckner ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 25.34 in the 200 meters at the Albany Spring Classic on May 8th. She had already qualified for the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship in the 200 and 400 meter events.
Jackson-Buckner, a secondary education major at SUNY New Paltz, is a 2002 graduate of The Buffalo Seminary. She is also a member of the field hockey team at SUNY New Paltz.
