Hawks Men’s Tennis Team Wraps Up Season with 5-2 Victory over Hunter
NEW YORK, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s tennis team wrapped up the 2004 season with a 5-2 victory over Hunter College this afternoon. The Hawks finished with an 11-4 record while Hunter dropped to 6-7.
New Paltz won two of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches to earn the win. Senior Bobby Calise (East Islip, NY) closed out his career with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Alvaro Pacheco at number two singles.
Juniors Josh Greenspan (North Babylon, NY) and Jason Letts (Plattsburgh, NY) concluded their outstanding seasons with victories in the number four and five singles positions. Greenspan improved to 11-2 at number four singles (12-3 overall) with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Boris Shenderovich. Letts remained perfect at 8-0 at number five singles (14-1 overall) as he cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Roman Kopelevich.
Senior Brad Breakstone (Mount Kisco, NY) and sophomore Greg Cichon (Farmingdale, NY) captured the number one doubles spot, 8-1, over Pacheco and Kopelevich.
