SUNY New Paltz Outdoor Track & Field Teams Compete at Kings Point Invitational

KINGS POINT, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams competed at the Kings Point Invitational this afternoon. Both teams performed at a high level as several personal records and ECAC qualifying marks were established.

Junior Josh Moore (Woodburne, NY) placed second in the shot put and hammer throw and was ninth in the discus. He was an NCAA provisional qualifier in the shot put with a throw of 15.73 meters. He also set personal records in the hammer throw (41.67 meters) and discus (37.21 meters).

Seniors Adam Thyberg (Blue Point, NY) and John Zarella (Mahopac, NY) also turned in a great performance. Thyberg won the pole vault by clearing an ECAC qualifying height of 14 feet, six inches while Zarella finished 12th in the 1500 meters in a personal best time of 4:15.50.

The women were led by sophomore Musu Jackson-Buckner (Buffalo, NY) who finished second in both the 200 and 400 meters in ECAC qualifying times of 25.98 and 59.02 seconds.

Senior Natasha Dudar (New Paltz, NY) also set an ECAC qualifying mark with a leap of 5.01 meters in the long jump where she placed second. She placed third in the triple jump with a jump of 9.95 meters.

Sophomore Janet Walsh (Baldwinsville, NY) and freshman Jessica Waterbury (Mount Sinai, NY) also established personal best times. Walsh crossed the finish line in fifth place in 5:03.98 in the 1500 meters while Waterbury came in sixth in the 5000 meters with a time of 21:20.95.
