SUNY New Paltz Men’s Tennis Team Drops Home Match to Vassar

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s tennis team had its two-match winning streak stopped following a 7-0 home loss to Vassar this afternoon.

The Hawks, now 4-3, dropped all six singles matches in two sets. Juniors Andrew Ezekowitz (Woodbridge, CT) and Roger Kueny (Charlestown, MA) fought of the SUNY New Paltz third doubles team of juniors Josh Greenspan (North Babylon, NY) and Jason Letts (Plattsburgh, NY) 9-8 to help secure a point for the Brewers.

Letts suffered his first loss of the season at number six singles. Letts, who had won his first six matches this spring, lost 6-0, 6-1 to Kueny.

Vassar improved to 6-4 with the victory. It was the first time all season that the Hawks were shutout.

Brad Breakstone (NP) lost to Jake Maslikowski (V) 6-3, 6-1. Bobby Calise (NP) lost to Ben Leffler (V) 6-3, 6-4. Brian Palmenteri (NP) lost to Ian Hartsough (V) 6-1, 6-2. Josh Greenspan (NP) lost to Andrew Ezekowitz (V) 6-2, 6-3. Scott Keicher (NP) lost to Aaron Brookner (V) 6-3, 6-1. Jason Letts (NP) lost to Roger Kueny (V) 6-0, 6-1

Doubles

Breakstone/Greg Cichon (NP) lost to Maslikowski/Hartsough (V) 8-6. Calise/Palmenteri (NP) lost to Leffler/Brookner (V) 8-3. Greenspan/Letts (NP) lost to Ezekowitz/Kueny (V) 9-8
