Ganje Named NECVA Metro Player of the Week

NEW PALTZ, NY — For the third time this season, SUNY New Paltz outside hitter Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY — Shenendehowa HS) has been named the North Eastern Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Metro Division Player of the Week.

The junior outside hitter averaged 3.5 kills, 2.5 digs, and 1.5 service aces per game while leading the Hawks to a 2-1 mark during the week.

He had 10 service aces in a 3-0 win over Yeshiva in the Hawks’ home finale on March 30. The next night, Ganje posted 22 kills and a .436 hitting percentage to lead SUNY New Paltz to a 3-2 win at Vassar. Ganje’s effort helped the Hawks end a four-match losing streak to Vassar that dated back to the 2001 season.

Ganje closed out a strong week with 11 kills and eight digs in a 3-0 opening round loss to Mount St. Vincent in the NECVA Tournament.

With a record of 17-8, the SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team will hope to be among the eight teams invited to the upcoming Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournament on April 17. The tournament field will be announced on April 12.
