NEW PALTZ — The School of Business at the State University of New York at New Paltz will hold the second annual Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society Hall of Fame induction ceremony at 5:30 p.m., Friday, March 26, in Studley Theatre. Membership in Sigma Beta Delta is the highest recognition a business student can receive at a college or university with a Sigma Beta Delta chapter.
The purposes of Sigma Beta Delta are to recognize scholarship and achievement among students of business, management and administration, and to encourage professional development and a life distinguished by honorable service.
In order to be nominated for membership in the Honor Society, undergraduate students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 and have fulfilled specific credit requirements. Graduate students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.8 and have completed 18 credits towards their graduate degree. As members of the Honor Society, students are expected to perform 30 hours of community service per year.
The School of Business will induct the following students: Amanda Vicchiariello, Amit Kumar, Caren Sullivan, Christopher Waleur, David Arbia, Genevieve Mulhare, Gilbert Ansa, Jessica Comperiati, Joana Mata, Justin VanFleet, Laina Peters, Linda Piatek, Ling Huang, Margaret Bennett, Mario Martinez, Minhea Bejat, Rebecca Hasbrouck, Richard Peluso, Scott Carpenter, Stephen Haimeck, Sylvia Balev, Yuk Liang, and Zofia Sliwecka.
In addition to the student inductees, the School of Business will induct two honorary members: New Paltz President Steven G. Poskanzer and New Paltz alumnus, Vincent Cozzolino, vice president of both Hardware Development and eServer Development Transformation at IBM in Poughkeepsie.
“The School of Business is proud to be a chapter of Sigma Beta Delta and hopes to stimulate academic success through its participation,” said Hadi Salavitabar, dean of the School of Business.
