Hollis Named SUNYAC Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week

NEW PALTZ, NY — SUNY New Paltz senior setter Jennifer Hollis (Livingston, NJ) was named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women s Volleyball Player of the Week this afternoon.

With Hollis running the offense, the Hawks went 2-1 last week. New Paltz earned a pair of 3-0 wins over Southampton College and Dominican College, and suffered a 3-1 loss to Vassar.

Hollis averaged 9.3 assists and 3.4 digs per game, had a .440 hitting percentage and registered double-doubles in all three matches. She had 39 assists and 12 digs in the win over Southampton on Oct. 4. That same day, Hollis finished with 25 assists and 11 digs in the victory over Dominican. She also recorded 25 assists and 11 digs in the loss to Vassar on Oct. 1.

Hollis has played in all 25 of the Hawks matches and 77 of the team s 89 games this season. Her 6.5 assists per game and .424 hitting percentage leads the squad.

The New Paltz women s volleyball team has won seven of their last 10 matches and is 11-14 overall and 3-2 in the SUNYAC. The Hawks are idle for the next 11 days and will return to the court on Oct. 17 for the SUNY-CUNY Challenge. The two-day event will take place at Cortland State.
