New Paltz Falls To Roger Williams 3-1

BRISTOL, RI — The visiting Hawks of New Paltz lost 3-1 Sunday to the Hawks of Roger Williams in Bristol, RI.

The Hawks fell behind 2-0 (30-21, 30-24) after the first two games of the match before taking game three 30-26. Roger Williams, however, took the fourth and deciding game 30-21 for the 3-1 win.

It is the second time this season Roger Williams has defeated New Paltz. On Feb. 19, RWU won in three straight games, 30-25, 30-19, and 30-25.

Chris Grunwald (St. James, NY) led the New Paltz attack with 12 kills and a .478 hitting percentage for the match. Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY), Mike LaRocco (Hauppauge, NY), and Bryan Hartz (Ransomville, NY) each added eight kills apiece. Ian Henderson (Redding, CT) was credited with 31 assists.

The New Paltz Hawks are back in action Wednesday night at Sacred Heart before playing in their season finale against Steven’s Tech on Apr. 9 at Elting Gym at 6:00 p.m.
