Hawks Make It Two Straight With Win Over East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, PA — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team won its second consecutive match Wednesday with a 3-1 victory over East Stoudsburg.

The Warriors jumped out to the lead grabbing game one 30-22 before the Hawks swept the next three 30-24, 30-22, 30-26.

With the win, the Hawks avenge an earlier 3-1 (19-30, 23- 30, 31-29, 26-30) loss at the hands of East Stroudsburg on Feb. 11.

Mike LaRocco (Hauppauge, NY) and Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) led the way with double-doubles for New Paltz. LaRocco finished the match with 17 kills and 10 digs while Ganje ended with 14 kills and 11 digs.

Kevin Buggs (Tonawanda, NY) had 48 assists on the night, giving him 113 in the last two matches. Steven Bristow (Richmond, VA) and Chris Grunwald (St. James, NY) each had eight blocks apiece while Greg Jackson (Central Square, NY) added seven blocks.

The Hawks (2-14) next head to Beverly, MA for Endicott College’s Invitational on March 7-8. New Paltz take on Ramapo, Endicott, and D’Youville in pool play before the playoffs begin Saturday afternoon.
