Women’s 4×200 Meter Relay Earns ECAC Indoor Qualifying Spot

HANOVER, NH – — The SUNY New Paltz women’s 4×200 meter relay team of Musu Jackson-Buckner (Buffalo, NY), Michelle Martinez (Newburgh, NY), Amandine Blackime (Tuckahoe, NY) and Stephanie Ramsey (Shelton, CT) has qualified for the ECAC Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship.

The Hawks’ relay team qualified at the Dartmouth Indoor Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 1) after finishing second with a school record time of 1:52.53.

The ECAC Division III Indoor Championship will be held on March 7-8 at Tufts University in Medford, MA.

The meet featured several highlights for both the men’s and women’s squads.

Jackson-Buckner established a school record in the preliminary heat for the 60-meter dash. Jackson-Buckner finished the preliminary race with a time of 8.20 to earn a spot in the finals where she finished seventh. She also finished fourth among a field of Division I athletes in the 400 meters with a time 1:01.80.

Kate Choromanski (Shelton, CT) was 13th in the 800 meters with a school record time of 2:29.86.

In the triple jump, Sara Joki (Saratoga Springs, NY) was seventh with a mark of 32-feet, one inch. She was also eighth in the high jump at four-feet, 10 and ¼ inches.

SUNY New Paltz indoor school records also fell in the pole vault where Jennifer Hutchinson (Queensbury, NY) was at nine feet, ¼ inch. Rebecca Demeri (Wantagh, NY) was seventh in the 3000 meters with a New Paltz record time of 11:20.71.

Scott Pollard (Spring Valley, NY) set a school record for the men’s team in the high jump. Pollard completed a jump of five feet, 10 inches to finish eighth.

Andrew Hunsinger (Queensbury, NY) was fifth in the 400-meter event with a time of 52.84. Phil Goodwin (Rochester, NY) was seventh in the 800-meters (2:02.22) and John Zarella (Mahopac, NY) was 14th in the 3000-meters (9:18.97).

Dartmouth, Amherst, St. Lawrence, Queens, Plattsburgh, Colgate, Keene State and Ithaca were among the school’s featured at the meet. There was no team scoring.
