Track & Field Team Establishes Six School Records, 15 SUNYAC Qualifiers

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – — The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s track & field teams opened the indoor season on Friday (Dec.6) with a meet at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

In a non-team scoring event, the Hawks had a total of 15 athletes qualify for the 2003 SUNYAC Indoor Championship in Geneva, NY on Feb. 22. In addition six school records were established. Freshman Jennifer Hutchinson (Queensbury, NY) won the 55-meter high hurdles with a school record time of 9.67. Freshman Michelle Martinez (Newburgh, NY) also established a school record in her collegiate debut winning the 55-meter event in :7.89. Junior Natasha Dudar (New Paltz, NY) won the long jump with a school record mark of 4.85 meters. Freshman Musu Jackson-Buckner (Buffalo, NY) won the 300 meters with a school record time of 43.32.

Junior Sara Joki (Saratoga Springs, NY) qualified for the SUNYAC Championship in the 55-meter high hurdles and the high jump. Senior Andrea Drayss (Island Park, NY) and freshman Erika Johnson (Kingston, NY) established SUNYAC qualifying marks in the shot put , and freshman Amandine Blackime (Tuckahoe, NY) was a conference championship qualifier in the 55-meters.

Freshman Andrew Hunsinger (Queensbury, NY) set a school record time of 6.94 in the 55-meters and earned a SUNYAC qualifying spot. Sophomore Josh Moore (Woodburne, NY) established a school record throw in the shot put (13.91 meters) and junior Bryan Lundy (Stormville, NY) was a SUNYAC qualifier in the shot put as well (13.34).
