Hawks Fall in Hard-Fought Game With Skidmore
NEW PALTZ – — Freshman forward Morgan Cadwell (Madison, CT) scored a pair of goals to lead the Skidmore women’s soccer team to a 2-0 win over SUNY New Paltz this afternoon.
Cadwell, who now has 26 points on the year and leads the Thoroughbreds in scoring, put her team on the board four minutes in when she converted off a pass from freshman midfielder Emily Martin (Granvilee, OH).
Skidmore (8-4) outshot the Hawks 9-6, but New Paltz made a bid to tie the score in the 70th minute on a blast from 15-yards out by senior midfielder Maria Puccio (Malverne, NY) that hit the crossbar.
Cadwell then put the game away for the Thoroughbreds in the 81st minute when she fought off two defenders and beat SUNY New Paltz sophomore goalie Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY).
Fenton made six save the Hawks while freshman keeper Emma Smaldino (Port Washington, NY) made two saves for Skidmore.
