Hawks Defeat Union 3-1

SCHENECTADY, NY – — The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team erased a 10-game winless streak with a 3-1 road win over Union this afternoon. The Dutchmen had entered the game as the 9th ranked team in the northeast region.

Union struck first when Ari Davis put home a pass from Kelvin Martinez, giving Union the lead at the 32-minute mark. The Hawks answered seven minutes later on an unassisted goal by sophomore Bryan Smith (Washingtonville, NY).

SUNY New Paltz (3-11-1) took control in the second half half with a pair of goals. Sophomore Matt Daum (New Paltz, NY) gave the Hawks the lead for good with an unassisted goal at 48:17.

Freshman Colin Hillman (Trumansburg, NY) helped secure the win with his first collegiate goal in the 60th minute to put the Hawks ahead 3-1.

Kevin Smith made six saves for SUNY New Paltz.

Union dropped to 6-4-2 this season.
