Two athletes earn all-tournament team honors

NEW PALTZ – — Two SUNY New Paltz athletes were named to all-tournament teams on Sept. 1.

Junior defender Kelly Anderson (Kingston, NY – Kingston HS) earned all-tournament team honors at the Manhattanville Valiant Field Hockey Classic. Anderson helped lead a defensive unit that registered a 1-0 win over Wheelock in the consolation game of the tournament.

SUNY New Paltz (1-1) travels to Kean University for a 7:00 p.m. game on Sept. 3.

Senior captain Tim Van Wyen (Sayville, NY – Sayville HS) earned all-tournament team recognition at the Drew University Fall Festival. Despite a pair of losses by the men’s soccer team, Van Wyen was cited for his play on defense.

The Hawks (0-2) will host Rhode Island College on Saturday (Sept.7) at 3:00 p.m.
