Field Hockey Drops First Conference Game
NEW PALTZ — The SUNY New Paltz field hockey team failed to bring home its second consecutive victory Tuesday night losing to Oneonta 1-0. The Red Dragons are now 3-3 on the season while the Hawks slip to 2-5. Both teams are 1-1 in conference play.
Oneonta controlled much of the play in the first half outshooting the Hawks 9-2. The Red Dragons finally got one past New Paltz goalkeeper Erica Engstrom 30:20 into the first half on a goal from junior Jenn Miller. Freshman Kerry Birnstill assisted on the play.
In the second half, the Hawks pressured Red Dragon goalkeeper Kelly Mohr but could not find the goal. Mohr ended the game with six saves while Engstrom finished with eight.
