Fenton Named SUNYAC Player of the Week
NEW PALTZ — SUNY New Paltz sophomore goalie Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY – East Meadow HS) was named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Player of the Week on Monday (Sept.16).
Fenton helped lead the Hawks to three shutout wins last week. She played the first 45 minutes of a 9-0 triumph over Farmingdale on Sept. 9. She made six saves in a 2-0 victory over Russell Sage on Sept. 13 and followed that performance with five saves in a 1-0 win over St. Joseph’s (LI) the next day.
Fenton has not allowed a goal in her last 290 minutes and the SUNY New Paltz defense has kept its opponents off the scoreboard for 335 consecutive minutes.
She has started all seven games for the Hawks and has a 1.69 goals-against average and a .807 save percentage.
The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team (3-4) will open its conference schedule on Friday (Sept. 20) at Potsdam at 4 p.m.
