Seven SUNY Track Athletes Qualify For ECAC’s

NEW PALTZ — The Outdoor Track Team at the State University of New York at New Paltz have qualified seven student-athletes to represent the University at the ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) Championships starting on Wednesday, May 15th at Springfield College.

Meeting the qualifying standards to compete:

WOMEN Andrea Drayss (Island Park, NY) Shot Put Natasha Dudar (New Paltz, NY) Long Jump/Pole Vault Stephanie Ramsey (Shelton, CT) Long Jump Christina Butcher (North Salem, NY) High Hurdles

MEN Adam Thyberg (Bluepoint, NY) Pole Vault Phil Goodwin (Rochester, NY) 1500M/800M Justin Lee (East Fishkill, NY) 800M

SUNYAC Champions: Andrea Drayss – Shot Put Natasha Dudar – Long Jump

The NCAA Championships will be hosted beginning on Wednesday, May 22nd at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. On Saturday, April 27th, Andrea Drayss, captured the shot put title in the Outdoor Track & Field SUNYAC (State University of New York Athletic Conference) Championships breaking a seventeen-year-old SUNYAC record with a throw of 13.39 meters. With this record-breaking throw, Drayss qualified provisionally for the NCAA Championship. Participating in the ECAC Championship will give Drayss one more opportunity to improve her qualifying distance, assuring her a spot in St. Paul.
