RPI Holds Off Men’s Tennis

NEW PALTZ — The Engineers from RPI proved to be a bit too much for New Paltz men’s tennis Wednesday as the Hawks fell 5-2.

The Hawks took two of the four singles matches and one doubles match. Bobby Calise (East Islip, NY) was victorious in his match over Jon Addison 2-6, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (5), Josh Greenspan (North Babylon, NY) defeated Joaquin Denoya 2-6, 7-6 (7), 7-6 (7), and Ed Paulinski (Floral Park, NY) and Tiberu Taran (Brooklyn Kings, NY) won their match 8-7 (8-6) over Steve Matthews and Mike Heligman.

Despite the loss, Coach Rob Bruley was pleased with the Hawks’ effort. “It was a very close match and good team performance against a very good RPI team,” Bruley stated.

The Hawks are back in action Thursday at Western Connecticut at 3:30pm.
