NEW PALTZ — New Paltz women’s softball lost two to visiting Oneonta Thursday 6-1 and 6-2.
In game one, the Hawks grabbed the early lead in the first inning on Jessica Schropfer’s (Glen Oaks, NY) RBI-single that scored Tiffany Danko (Goshen, NY). That was the last run New Paltz could get though, as the Red Dragons knocked in four runs in the second inning and two in the fifth for a 6-1 win. Kristin Ackerman (Middletown, NY) pitched seven innings for the Hawks surrendering five hits.
In game two, the Hawks got their only two runs of the game in the seventh. Jen Born (Walroth, NY) scored on a Michelle Lever (Holbrook, NY) single and Lever crossed the plate on an error in the inning. Wendy Del Orbe (Bronx, NY) took the loss for New Paltz going 2 and 1/3 giving up five runs on four hits in a 6-2 loss.
New Paltz will be on the road Saturday and Sunday at Oswego and Cortland.
