Manhattanville Shuts Down Men’s Baseball

NEW PALTZ — Drew Crowley’s first-inning grand slam was all the Valiants would need as pitcher Dave McCorison threw a six-hit complete game in a 6-1 win for Manhattanville. The loss sinks the Hawks record to 7-17-1.

Crowley’s blast gave the Valiants a four-run cushion early and the Hawks never recovered as they failed to get hits at the plate all day. In addition to their hitting woes, the Hawks uncharacteristically committed six fielding errors in the game, two of which came in a two-run Manhattanville 4th inning. New Paltz’s only run came in the 1st inning on Ernesto Sosa’s (Santa Domingo, DR) sacrifice fly that scored Vinnie Perry (Kingston, NY). James Mongello (Mahopac, NY) took the loss pitching four innings and allowing five hits.

New Paltz next plays Saturday and Sunday at Fredonia and Brockport in crucial SUNYAC games. The Hawks currently sit in 5th place.
