Lecture: Iraq and Terrorism
NEW PALTZ — Scott Ritter, a former United Nations weapons inspector in Iraq, will give a lecture at the State University of New York at New Paltz, titled “Terror, Weapons of Mass Destruction and the Coming War with Iraq” on Tuesday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Coykendall Science Building Auditorium.
Ritter oversaw efforts to uncover the true weapons of mass destruction capability of Iraq. He will speak about Iraq and his experience there as a weapons inspector. He will also focus on Iraq as a potential target in the widening conflict on terror, the drive for war in Washington and why, in this case, he believes there are other options besides war in dealing with Iraq.
Ritter is the author of “Iraq in Endgame: Solving the Iraq Problem – Once and For All.” He also produced a documentary film, “In Shifting Sands,” which addresses the ramifications of the United States policy of economic sanctions against Iraq.
“In Shifting Sands” will be shown in Lecture Center 100 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and in Lecture Center 102 from 5:30-7 p.m. before Ritter’s lecture.
The lecture is sponsored by the SUNY New Paltz Center for Peace and Social Justice and the 9/11 Program Response Planning Committee.
