Men’s Volleyball Survives to Beat King’s Point

NEW PALTZ — In a match that went the distance, the New Paltz men’s volleyball team hung on to defeat the United States Merchant Marine Academy 3 games to 2. With the victory, the Hawks evened their record at 10-10.

The Hawks and Mariners see-sawed back and forth for the first four games of the match as the Hawks took games one and three 30-18, and 30-27 while King’s Point grabbed games two and four 32-30, and 26-30. In the decisive game five, the Hawks held a 14-12 lead and looked to have the match won. The mariners pulled even but eventually fell to the hosts 18-16.
