New Haven Upends Men’s Volleyball

NEW PALTZ — After coming off a championship weekend, the New Paltz men’s volleyball team fell to the New Haven Chargers 3 games to 1. The Hawks grabbed the first game 30-24 but lost the last three 31-33, 19-30, and 27-30. The Hawks’ record now sits at 5-7 and 0-3 in EIVA.

Jason Bateman (Brewerton, NY) led the Hawks in kills with 15 while Sean Riley (Port Jefferson, NY) had 10 kills, 3 aces, 9 digs, and 6 blocks. Beau Warren (Canandaigua, NY) added 46 assists in the match.

The Hawks were coming off a 4-2 weekend that saw them capture the Roger Williams Invitational Tournament Championship. Ironically, New Paltz’s next opponent is the Hawks from Roger Williams whom they beat in the title match in 5 games. The grudge match is set for Saturday night at Elting Gymnasium beginning at 7:00pm.
