Women’s Swimming/Diving Finishes 3rd at RPI Invite

NEW PALTZ — The women’s swimming and diving team finished impressively Saturday at the RPI Invitational taking 3rd place. New Paltz had 432.5 points behind Connecticut College (490.5) and Cortland (473). Four schools finished behind the Hawks with the closest being RPI (251).

New Paltz placed well in both relays and individual events at Saturday’s meet:

The 400-yard medley relay team and the 400-yard freestyle relay team both finished well taking 3rd in both events.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Molly Soule (Clinton, NY) finished 2nd with a time of 2:04.58 and Andrea Ditter (New Paltz, NY) was 5th (2:08.34). Soule also finished strong in the 100-yard freestyle taking 4th at 56.97. Jessica Armstrong (Wappingers Falls, NY) was 6th (58.30).

Senior Erin Lalor (Richmond Hill, NY) placed 3rd in both the 50-yard freestyle (25.98) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:35.88) and freshman Mallory Grempel (Babylon, NY) finished 4th in the 200 individual medley at 2:23.99.

Freshman Danielle Lindner (Wantagh, NY) took 4th in the 500- yard freestyle (5:46.08) and 3rd in the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.44). Senior Christine Foster (East Patchogue, NY) was 4th (2:21.14). Foster also took 5th in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:51.15).

Women’s swimming and diving next will travel to Vassar on Wednesday for a 5:00 p.m. start.
