Women’s B’Ball Beats Utica/Rome

UTICA, NY — The New Paltz women’s basketball team got its second conference win of the season Tuesday night defeating the Utica/Rome Wildcats 66-50.

Though not shooting the ball particularly well, the Hawks got the lead at the half 29-20. New Paltz turned it up a notch in the second half shooting 56% from the field and cruising to the sixteen-point win. Freshman Tarah Norris (Westbrookville, NY) had a game-high 17 points and Silver Williams (Newburgh, NY) had 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Lindsay Dakin (Andover, CT) added 14 points while Kim Weigel (Whitestone, NY) chipped in with 11.

The Hawks season record now stands at 3-9 and their conference record is 2-4. Buffalo State and Fredonia are next for New Paltz as they come to town Friday and Saturday for two key conference games.
