Men’s Basketball Lights Up Cortland
CORTLAND — In their second consecutive conference win, the New Paltz men’s basketball team came out on fire against the Red Dragons of Cortland. New Paltz increased a 17-12 lead with 12:30 left in the first half to a 34-19 lead with 5:40 left and led by 14 at the break. The Hawks shot 57% from the field in the opening twenty minutes. In the second, New Paltz never trailed by less than thirteen points and cruised to a 69-52 victory. New Paltz now is 2-7 in SUNYAC play and 3-14 overall.
Pat Stirk (Milford, CT) led four Hawks in double figures with 17 points. Ben Davey (Andover, NJ) added 15 while Steve Ott (New Paltz, NY) had 14 and Dom Fornabaio (Wappingers Falls, NY) had 13.
New Paltz next hosts Oswego and Geneseo this weekend in critical conference games that could put them back into contention for a SUNYAC Tournament berth.
