Turkish education official to speak on ‘asymmetric state of war’

NEW PALTZ — The State University of New York at New Paltz will host a lecture by Kemal Guruz, president of the Turkish Council of Higher Education, at noon Thursday in Lecture Center 104.

Guruz is a Fulbright Scholar and a member of several international organizations, including the UNESCO Turkish National Commission, the NATO Science Committee, and the Russian Academy of Technological Sciences and Scientific Board of the International Center. His talk will focus on the asymmetric state of war, or the use of all means at one’s disposal including deceit and duplicity to benefit from an adversary’s weaknesses and destroy the adversary.

Much of his talk will be based on his perceptions of the current world situation as an experienced educator within a predominately Islamic country.

The lecture is free and open to the public.
