Men’s Basketball Notches First Victory
NEW PALTZ — The New Paltz men’s basketball team recorded its first win of the season Wednesday night defeating previously unbeaten Vassar 71-55. The Hawks record now stands at 1-3 overall.
New Paltz used a tenacious pressure defense against the Brewers forcing them to shoot a dismal 27% from the field. The Hawks went into the locker room up by 14 points but never turned the intensity off in the second half. Senior forward Pat Stirk (Milford CT) had 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Hawks and junior guard Ben Davey (Andover, NJ) had 15 points and 8 rebounds.
The Hawks play again Friday night at Elting Gymnasium against York at 8:00 pm.
