Women’s Tennis Splits Weekend Matches

NEW PALTZ — The Women’s Tennis Team defeated Hunter 8-1 on Friday but fell to undefeated Montclair St. 6-3 on Saturday giving them a 9-3 record overall.

Against Hunter College, Kerry Farrell (6-1, 6-0), Megan Crevoiserat (6-2, 6-2), Rebecca Billow (6-0, 6-0), Jessica Smith (6-1, 6-1), and Amie Larson (6-0, 6-1) all defeated their opponents in singles with relative ease. In doubles, the Hawks continued the onslaught sweeping all three matches. Farrell and Barbara Slovak won 8-2, Billow and Lauren Marz won 9-8, and Crevoiserat and Smith were victorious 8-0.

Montclair proved to be a much tougher opponent on Saturday. Farrell (6-3, 6-1) and Larson (6-4, 3-6, 7-6) were the only players able to muster a victory in singles and in doubles only Crevoiserat and Smith (8-4) managed to win their match.

Women’s Tennis returns to action this week traveling to Vassar on Wednesday.
