Hawks Drop Home Softball Opener

NEW PALTZ — SUNY New Paltz finally opened its home schedule with two SUNYAC losses to Plattsburgh on Tuesday at Deane Field.

The (0-13 overall, 0-6 SUNYAC) Hawks lost game one 5-2, and were also edged 9-8 in the nightcap.

New Paltz’s best offensive output of the season (13 hits in the doubleheader) was overshadowed by three errors in the first game and a season-high 10 errors in game two. Plattsburgh never trailed in the first game, and broke a 4-4 tie with three runs in the bottom of the fifth in the second game.

New Paltz will in pursuit of its first win of the season at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Union College.
