Eberhardt Leads Hawks With Decathlon Victory

EWING, NJ — Dale Eberhardt highlighted a strong SUNY New Paltz showing at the two-day College of New Jersey Multi-Event Meet, which completed Friday evening.

Eberhardt, a senior from Wallkill, NY, won the decathlon title, finishing with 5,647 points, holding off New Jersey freshman Chad Williams (5,621). New Paltz teammates Matt Selkirk (5,166) and Adam Thyberg (4,762) finished in third and fourth place, respectively.

In the women’s heptathlon, sophomore Heidi Dippel was the Hawks’ top finisher in fifth place (2,895 points). Freshman Katie Dwyer was close behind in sixth place (2,504), while Princeton’s Susan Coltman amassed 4,645 points to earn the championship.

New Paltz will be back in action at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Binghamton University Invitational.
