UTICA — They’re not related, but the Hawks’ two players with the same last name had identical point totals to help SUNY New Paltz cruise past Utica/Rome, 65-49, on Friday night at the Campus Center Gymnasium.
Zebi Williams (14 rebounds, three assists, two blocks) and Silver Williams (seven rebounds, four steals) scored 15 points apiece, as New Paltz won its third straight game to improve to 6-5 overall and 5-4 SUNYAC. Team leading scorer Britni Bishop (11 points, three assists) also scored in double figures, while Lisa Burriss (eight points, five rebounds) loomed just one basket away.
Cheryl Blanchard matched the Williams’ game-high total of 15 points for Utica/Rome (1-10 overall, 0-7 SUNYAC), which is still in search of its first conference victory.
