Field Hockey Loses Rescheduled Match

DALLAS, PA. — Meredith Herfel staked SUNY New Paltz to an early lead, but Misericordia scored three unanswered goals in the second half, en route to a 3-1 come-from-behind field hockey victory on Thursday afternoon.

The game, originally scheduled for yesterday, was postponed a day due to soggy weather.

Becky Roman had two of the (13-4) Cougars’ three goals in the match, including her second on a penalty stroke. Julia Fritz provided Misericordia’s other goal.

Former Rondout Valley High standout Liz Clarke made 22 saves in the loss for the (1-13) Hawks, while Misericordia goalkeeper Liz Kovalchik had 11 saves.

New Paltz closes out its inaugural field hockey season on Saturday with an 1 p.m. home match against William Paterson at Kingston’s Dietz Stadium.
