Golden Eagles Beat New Paltz In Men’s Soccer

NEW PALTZ — Two goals in the first half were the difference, as Brockport defeated New Paltz in SUNYAC men’s soccer, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon.

Brandon Barker’s deflected shot off a New Paltz defender 18:36 into the contest was the game-winner, and Ryan Harris’ chip over charging Hawk goalkeeper Kevin Smith added an insurance goal just before halftime.

Smith made seven saves in the game for New Paltz (1-8 overall, 1-3 SUNYAC), while counterpart Marc Hummel saved six shots for the (5-3 overall, 3-1 SUNYAC) Golden Eagles, who have won five of their last six matches.
