Bruley Named Senior Women’s Administrator
NEW PALTZ — Colleen Bruley can now add another title – Senior Women’s Administrator – to her list of duties at SUNY New Paltz.
Bruley, who also coaches the university’s women’s soccer and lacrosse teams, will oversee many of the areas related to women’s athletics and coordinate the institution’s NCAA-sponsored CHAMPS/Life Skills program, as well as serve as an advisor to the department’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
“Colleen has done an outstanding job with our women’s soccer and lacrosse teams, and I am confident that she’ll put that same energy and commitment into her new role as our Senior Women’s Administrator,” Athletic Director Jim Zalacca noted.
Bruley is already exhibiting that enthusiasm. “I’m looking forward to being involved in and responsible for implementing many athletic department programs, as well as being a support person for our female athletes,” she said.
A 1991 SUNY Plattsburgh graduate and Saratoga Springs, NY native, Bruley is a former professional soccer coach and goalkeeper in the top English Women’s National League for the Millwall and Arsenal clubs, and has also worked for the England-based Coerver Coaching Association, which is widely recognized as the world’s number one soccer skills coaching method. Prior to her arrival at New Paltz, she coached collegiate soccer at the University of Albany (1992-93) and Skidmore College (1991).
This past fall, she guided the women’s soccer team to a school-record 11 wins in just her third season at the helm, including the Hawks’ second-ever appearance in the SUNYAC Tournament and first-ever berth to the ECAC Tournament. Her third women’s lacrosse season opens March 29, when the Hawks host local rival Vassar at 3:30 p.m. at Kingston’s Dietz Stadium.
