NEW PALTZ — Seniors Michelle Gallo, Amanda Katz and Ellen Salov shined in their final home volleyball match, but SUNY New Paltz was still edged in five games by New York University, 15-11, 11-15, 7-15, 15-13, on Tuesday night at Elting Gymnasium.
Gallo, a 1996 Kingston High graduate, had eight digs, seven kills, two blocks and one ace against the (23-7) Violets, who are fourth in the latest New York State volleyball rankings. Katz meanwhile contributed 13 digs and eight kills, and Salov added five kills and three digs, for New Paltz (24-13), ranked eighth.
The Hawks are back in action at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Bard College.
