Women’s Soccer Falls To Rensselaer
NEW PALTZ — Susan Gonyea’s goal at 71:40 held up as the game-winner and Maureen Tedford added a goal late, as Rensselaer beat New Paltz, 2-0, to snap a two-game losing skid on Wednesday at Alumni Field.
The loss, meanwhile, ends a two-game win streak for the New Paltz (7-5-1), which was outshot 37-7 in the contest. New Paltz goalkeeper Laura Neander turned away 14 of Rensselaer’s 16 best scoring opportunities, while counterpart Laura Gregor made four saves to preserve the shutout for the (8-2-0) Red Hawks, who are ranked eighth in the latest NSCAA/Adidas New York/Northeast Region Poll.
New Paltz is at Cortland at 4 p.m. on Friday for a key SUNYAC match.
