SUNY New Paltz College Council schedules executive session

NEW PALTZ — The College Council at SUNY New Paltz will meet in executive session on Tuesday, October 19 at the College Terrace Conference Center. The 6:00 p.m. meeting will provide an opportunity for College Council members to meet with Frank Horton, president emeritus of the University of Toledo, who has been designated as the peer evaluator for President Roger Bowen.

In accordance with the 1997 SUNY policy on evaluations, new presidents are formally evaluated in their third year of service and at five-year intervals thereafter. President Bowen has completed three years of service, and the process for formal evaluation has been initiated.

SUNY Assistant Vice Chancellor Marianna O’Dwyer, whose responsibilities include oversight of SUNY’s presidential evaluation process, will also attend the closed session.

Horton is a former president of the University of Oklahoma and chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
