Men’s Soccer Loses To Rensselaer
NEW PALTZ — Mike Wisnowski’s goal 14 minutes into the contest held up as the game-winner as Rensselaer defeated New Paltz, 2-0, in men’s soccer on Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Andrey Oks added a goal late in the contest as Rensselaer, which is listed in the latest NSCAA/Adidas Northeast Region Poll, improved to 5-3-1. Backup goalkeeper Kenny Guzzardo made three saves for the Red Hawks after starter Marc Salmin left the game with a knee injury with a minute remaining in the first half.
New Paltz netminder Kevin Smith, meanwhile, made 11 saves to help keep the (1-10-2) Hawks, who were edged 17-11 on shots, in the contest.
The Hawks remain home to face Cortland at 4 p.m. on Friday.
