Men’s Soccer Team Falls Short Against Violets
NEW PALTZ — A late goal by Stephen Ferrara was not enough to overcome an earlier 2-0 deficit, as New Paltz fell to New York University, 2-1, in men’s soccer on Tuesday afternoon at soggy Alumni Field.
Marc Cheesman scored both Violet goals in the contest. In the first half, he poked the ball through New Paltz goalkeeper Kevin Smith’s hands at 33:41. Then at 59:07, Cheesman again beat Smith for what proved to be the game-winner.
New Paltz goes back on the road to face Geneseo (Friday at 4 p.m.) and Brockport (Saturday at 1 p.m.) this weekend.
