Men’s Soccer Team Falls To Surging Cardinals

PLATTSBURGH — SUNY New Paltz once again did a number of positive things, including continuing to play hard, in Sunday’s SUNYAC men’s soccer match at Plattsburgh.

Unfortunately, it also made several critical mistakes, as Plattsburgh defeated the Hawks, 3-0, in a game that was postponed from Friday due to the effects of Hurricane Floyd.

Brian McGrane’s goal 11:56 into the contest proved to be all the offense the (6-1-0 overall, 2-0-0 SUNYAC) Cardinals would need. Mark Hinds and Dominic Salemi scored insurance goals at 25:19 and 81:32, respectively. Plattsburgh has now scored 13 goals in its last two games.

Kevin Smith (eight saves) and Odirlei Thomaz (two saves) combined to make 10 saves for the Hawks in the loss.

New Paltz (1-5-1 overall, 1-1-0 SUNYAC) hosts New York University for a 4 p.m. match on Tuesday.
